National Young Women's Day of Action

Rosie Jimenez, a single mother with a five year old daughter, was the first victim of the Hyde Amendment, which blocks federal funding for abortions for poor women. Too poor to afford a private clinic, Rosie was forced to seek an unsafe abortion, which ended with the cost of her life.

The National Young Women's Day of Action is a day to remember Rosie and bring attention to concerns that young women have, such as, reproductive rights and general health. This day will include a Speak Out about a broad range of issues affecting young women today: education, jobs, domestic violence, affirmative action and racial justice are some examples.

If you are interested in helping to plan this event, please contact felicia.baptiste@mnsu.edu or call 389-1771 by Friday, September 30, 2005.
