The President's Commission on the Status of Women, a University-wide group of students, faculty and staff, is proud to announce the following opportunities for students, faculty and staff on MSU campus:

Women of Courage and Vision Recognition

Nomination Deadline: Friday March 3, 2006

You are invited to nominate any woman of the MSU community, student or employee. This reception on Tuesday, March 28 is designed to recognize the rich and diverse contributions women make to our University. Nomination forms are available on the Nominations & Grants page. Additional forms are available in the Women's Center, CSU 218.

Project of the Year Awards

Deadline: Friday, March 3, 2006

The Commission on the Status of Women invites applications for two student and one faculty award to recognize excellence in research work pertaining to women and/or gender related issues. Deadline is Friday, March 3. Recipients will be honored at the commission's sixth annual recognition reception on Tuesday, March 28, and will receive a $350 cash award. Applications are available online on the Nominations & Grants page. Additional forms are available in the Women's Center, CSU 218.

Professional Development and Research Grants

Deadline: Friday, March 3, 2006

Grants of up to $500 are available to student and employees who plan to attend professional conferences concerned with the status of women and/or gender related issues, or conduct research in these areas. Funds received must be spent by June 30, 2006. Grant applications are available online on the Nominations & Grants page. Additional forms are available in the Women's Center, CSU 218.

Shop at "The Smitten Kitten" to raise funds for V-Day 2006 MSU!

The Smitten Kitten will be hosting a fundraiser to help support our violence prevention efforts. This fundraiser is in conjunction with our 2006 production of "The Vagina Monologues."

The Smitten Kitten is a gender-friendly erotic boutique & sex toy store owned and operated by 3 MSU grads. The store will donate 20% of all in-store and online sales made that day to our V-Day violence prevention campaign. You are invited to take a shopping trip to Minneapolis not only to buy some self-indulgent products in a feminist environment, but also to support a great cause.

The Women's Center is sponsoring a van ride.

What: MSU Women's Center V-Day Fundraiser
When: Saturday, February 25th, Meet at noon for a ride, otherwise shop online or transport yourself at your own schedule

Eating Disorder Awareness Week (February 27th - March 3rd)

Theme: "Be comfortable in your genes

All week: The great jeans giveaway!!!!

Student, faculty and staff please bring in old pairs of jeans that no longer fit. Drop off boxes will be located at tables in the CSU first floor, Health Education Office (100 Carcoski), Otto Center, and the Women's Center.

Building a Healthy Body Image in a Body Toxic World

When: Wednesday, March 1st 7:00 - 8:30pm.
Where: CSU Ballroom

MSU Idol Semi Finals

IMPACT Team is proud to announce the MSU Idol Semi finals on February 21st 2006 at 9pm in the CSU Ballroom. This is the first time our 11 Semi finalists will get a chance to perform live in front of audience. They will be accompanied by a trained pianist. It is going to be a great show. After the show you get a chance to vote on your favorite contestant. All votes will be done electronically. So, please join us and support this event with your presence.
