SVRC Information Center

The Sexual Violence Resource Center (SVRC) of Blue Earth County is holding an Information Meeting on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 7:00 pm at the Government Center (410 South Fifth Street). Anyone who is interested in becoming a Victim/Survivor Advocate is encouraged to attend. Victim Advocates work directly with victims of sexual violence. Advocates also work closely with the County Attorney, Human Services, and Law Enforcement.

There is a 40 hour required training class that Advocates must complete. Training includes topics such as the response to sexual assault, medical treatment, the various roles of law enforcement and medical professionals regarding the investigation and collection of evidence–as well as many more topics.

This is an excellent opportunity for any major or minor. Internships are also available once training is completed or on a case-by-case basis. Students who are required to fulfill community service hours may also volunteer.

For more information please contact Jayme Jackson or 507-304-4295.
