An Evening with Chief Wilma Mankiller

The Women's Center and the Department of Women's Studies are pleased to announce that the third annual Carol Ortman Perkins Lectureship will be "An Evening with Chief Wilma Mankiller."

The Gender Chip Project

Join filmmaker Helen De Michiel for conversation after watching her documentary about young women training in college for careers in the high stakes professions of science, math, engineering and technology. Coming Out of the Closets Clothes Drive

October 9-13

SAGE (Sexuality And Gender Equality, a recognized student organization) will be collecting clothes to donate to local charities during National Coming Out Week. Raid your closets and bring in those clothes you don't wear anymore! New clothes are also appreciated! Specifics include: new women's underwear, pajamas, and bras without underwire. You can drop clothes off at the LGBT Center, the Women's Center, and in the Mav Ave all week.

Human Trafficking & Child Sex Exploitation

Thursday, October 19, 1 p.m., Ostrander Auditorium, Centennial Student Union

Keynote presentation by Chong Kim, survivor, educator and advocate for ending human trafficking. This event is a component of the Asian Pacific American Conference, and is free and open to the public.   • OutSpoken: Coming Out as an Ally
  • When: Monday, October 9, 7:00pm
  • Where: Ostrander Auditorium - Minnesota State University, Mankato

Gay or straight... Windmeyer opens the closet door that traditionally keeps students silenced on issues surrounding sexual orientation. He combines humor and his own personal experience to destroy stereotypes that perpetuate homophobia and sheds light on an often invisible segment of the college community - our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender students. This program aims to educate and enlighten audience members on LGBT issues as well as motivate individuals to take the next step in coming out as visible allies and leaders for all people - including LGBT people.
