Reading Rainbows: An Evening With Transgender High School Librarian, Debra Davis

Debra DavisThe LGBT Center, The Women's Center and CADA, Inc. are proud to introduce Debra Davis. Debra is an award-winning educator and activist, and one of the first secondary educators to successfully come out and transition in her high school, over a weekend, anywhere in the country.

Jean Kilbourne's "Slim Hopes: Advertising & the Obsession with Thinness

Jean KilbourneWe are pleased to co-present Jean Kilbourne's "Slim Hopes: Advertising & the Obsession with Thinness." Please join us on Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at 8:00 PM in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Dr. Kilbourne's presentation will serve as the anchor event for Eating Disorders Awareness Week and the launch of Women's History Month. Seating is limited and tickets are required. Tickets are complimentary to MSU students & employees and $10 for all others. Seating is general admission and doors will open at 7:30 PM. Tickets will be available beginning February 12, 2007 in the Women's Center (218 Centennial Student Union), Campus Recreation (118 Myers Field House) and Student Health Services (100 Carkoski Commons).

LUNAFEST, a national traveling festival of short films by...for...about women.

  • When: Thursday, March 22, 2007
  • Time: Screenings at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
  • Where: Ostrander Auditorium

Tickets: $5, available in the Women's Center (CSU 218) or at the event. LUNAFEST donates the proceeds generated at each screening to the Breast Cancer Fund and the local nonprofit host organizations. MSU's local organizations are CADA, Inc. and Colleges Against Cancer.

Women's Health and Wellness Fair

Summer Volunteer Opportunity for College Students

The Gulfsouth Summer Youth Action Corps is comprised of a national network of college students who are dedicated to rebuilding youth services and opportunities in the hurricane affected areas of the Gulfcoast Region. Corps members commit to a summer of service that will engage, inspire and empower local youth through the Gulfsouth Summer Youth Action Camp. The Gulfsouth Summer Youth Action Camp is an intensive 6-week long (beginning June 11th), holistic, cutting-edge, youth leadership program designed for students entering grades 5-8 (middle school) that focuses on Social Justice; Youth Empowerment; Community Diversity; and Service-learning.

Impact Events in March

Thursday, March 1st: Casino Night 7-9 in CSU gameroom. Come play your favorite Casino games and get a chance at prizes and a raffle!! Free to all!

Wednesday, March 7th: "So you think you have talent. Prove it!" Talent Show at 8:30p.m. in CSU Ostrander. Come see all kinds of talent that is here at MSU!

* If you have a talent (any type of talent) sign up in CSU 173! Prizes will be given to the first, second, and third place winners!

Tuesday, March 20th: Commuter Day from 7:30 - 9:15 a.m. in Taylor Center. On your way to class come stop by and get some free breakfast!

Tuesday, March 20th: Holiday Concert at 8 p.m. in CSU Ballroom. Pop band to perform and have a good time here at MSU. Free to students, so come and enjoy the fun!
