It's more about the science of weather! This is a course on meteorology. It is focused at an advanced level and builds upon the foundations laid in the Weather 217/218 course. The presentation of this course is quite different to the introductory course. Each week students will participate in a focused seminar structured course where readings, problem assignments and discussions are used as the teaching methodology. Assignments are largely self-paced and advantage will be taken of the facilities of WALTER – the MSU weather analysis laboratory. Students in this course will be taught the techniques of weather visualization, in the same structure as is taught to the US Air Force weather personnel. Students will emerge with both a theoretical understanding of the mechanisms and processes in weather, and a practical feel for the forecasting and depiction of weather phenomena.
