Thursday, August 22        Residence Hall Move In Day!!!  

7:30am-11:00pm              Open Rec in Otto Recreation Center
Enjoy working out in your rec center where you can play basketball, volleyball, swim, lift weights, walk, jog, use the fitness machines equipped with personal computers, and lots more!

8:00am-6:00pm                 Barnes & Noble Campus Bookstore - BUY USED books and save 25%

COME SEE THE PLACE TO BE! Experience all the bowling and billiards you can handle!

4:00pm – 6:00pm             New Student/Family BBQ, Myers Field House  
Join us in the field house for a traditional barbecue dinner anytime between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Enjoy great food as you begin your journey at Minnesota State Mankato!  This is the first meal for residence hall students, so all you need is your MavCARD. Children five and under are free. 

4:00pm – 11:00pm         Indoor Climbing Wall in the SE corner of Myers Field House
Join us at MSU’s indoor climbing facility and spend the evening reaching new heights!  All you need is your MavCARD and we will provide all of the equipment for you to climb!  Staff will be there to provide instruction for climbers new to the sport. Please wear comfortable clothing.

Wondering what fraternities and sororities are really all about?  Come find out more during this no-pressure, no-obligation session.  You’ll have the opportunity to meet some of the Greek Community’s outstanding leaders and to ask questions about MSU’s 13 fraternities and sororities. 7:00pm-8:15pm               Opening Floor Meeting
Meet everyone else who just moved onto your floor!  Start time fluctuates from 7:00pm-8:15pm.  See your CA and floor signs for time and location.

9:00pm –12:00am            Club Maverick CSU Ballroom
Club Maverick is the hippest DJ you have ever seen. 500 people get headphones to jam out with this silent DJ.  There’s no sound! Lights, drinks, and crazy dancing. Meet someone new.  Free glow necklaces to the first 200 students.  

9:00pm                           Capture the Flag on the lawn by the Bell Tower (meet in Myers Field House at 9pm)
Grab your floormates for a fun night of crawling, running, sneaking & strategy!  We’ll meet in Myers Field House and separate into teams before heading out to the grassy area by the Bell Tower.  Traditional Capture the Flag rules will be in effect, with each team hiding a flag and having a jail.  Prepare for the night by wearing dark clothes and tennis shoes.  You may bring a flashlight if you wish.  Sponsored by Campus Recreation.

1:00pm – 4:00pm             Outdoor Climbing Pinnacle in back of Gage by Observatories & Ropes Course
Take the challenge of the  outdoor climbing pinnacle at MSU. Come on out-all you need is your MavCARD and we will provide all of the equipment for you to climb!  Staff will be there to provide instruction for climbers new to the sport. Please wear comfortable clothing.  You can reach the climbing tower by a short walk on the gravel road behind Gage (past the intramural fields).  Sponsored by the Adventure Education Program.

 

1:00pm – 3:00pm             Choose-a-Palooza
You choose where to visit, and you choose which prizes you want to win!  Earn prize drawing tickets by visiting different campus offices.  There is $1000 worth of great prizes, including an I-PAD, movies, games, and more!  Bring your tickets to the prize station in the CSU (lower level in front of the fire place) by 3:15pm for the prize drawing.  You will find goodies, more prizes and give-aways at each stop.  Pick-up your Choose-A-Palooza guide at the campus Hub, or front desk of your on-campus residence community.   The Prize Drawing will begin at 3:15pm, don’t miss a chance to win an Apple I-PAD! 3:00 pm                                Prize Flight (Hearth Lounge overlook following Choose-a-Palooza)
Put your aerodynamic skills to the test by craft the specially-designed Prize Flight paper airplane and then group launching it from the Hearth Lounge overlook. Your design could be one of 300+ constructed planes that will be group launched toward a small target on the Hearth Lounge floor. Closest three paper airplanes to the target will win. Top prize will be a GoPro camera. Prize Flight airplane design was included in your Orientation packets (spare copies will be available prior to “lift off”). Build your craft using our design or fold the sheet into your own secret, special shape. Bring your craft and launch it to win!

Stop in and meet the staff of the LGBT Center and Women’s Center, collect your ice cream in the Women’s Center and top it off with tons of toppings in the LGBT!  Find out how to get involved with your campus LGBT and Women’s Centers! No matter if you are straight, gay, lesbian, bi, trans, man or woman, you are all welcome!

You won’t want to miss the great ballpark food and games.  Stop by and Celebrate Safely!  Get out your homer hankies and be ready to win prizes as you watch the Twins play the Indians on the big screen. Participate in trivia contests, enjoy ballpark foods & cheer your Minnesota team to victory!  Prizes to the best dressed fan as well!  Sponsored by MSU Campus Recreation and the MSU IMPACT Team.

Join the fun as CSU Serendipity Karaoke – hot off its Summer Orientation gig -- again brings big screen karaoke to the Bullpen lounge. Pick your favorite tunes, grab the mic and impress your fans. If you’re shy, grab a friend – we love group numbers and crowd participation. Coupons for free Bullpen pizzas will be given away during the evening! Then plan to join us for weekly Thursday night Serendipity Karaoke in the Maverick Bullpen. Welcome Week Karaoke sponsored by the CSU and the Office of Admissions.

The “Oh My” Sexuality Lecture is the sex ed teacher you always wanted.  It combines sex education with a hearty dose of laughter.  This program will bring a playful, honest approach to this topic.  “Best sex talk ever!” Megan B Junior, MSU. With humor and education, the team of speakers illuminate the subject of sexuality, healthy relationships, and consent.  “OH MY” You can’t miss this!

9:00pm – 10:00pm           Star GazingStandeford Observatory
Let your imagination soar as you ponder the mysteries of the universe.  Check out our state-of-the-art telescopes and get a close up look at our galaxy and beyond.  Meet at the flag in front of the Centennial Student Union on the south side to be shuttled to the observatory.  Shuttle will run continuously until 10pm.  Sponsored by the MSU Astronomy department and Campus Recreation.

9:00pm – 11:00pm           Pool Party at the Highland Center Pool (in Otto Rec Center)
Splash on over to the pool and test out your skills with our cannonball and belly-flop contests! Lounge around with colorful pool toys while enjoying beach food and tropical drinks.  Participate in the wet shirt relay for a chance to win prizes!  Sponsored by MSU Campus Recreation.

10:30pm-12:00am            Swing Dance (after “Oh My”) - in the CSU Ballroom
Get on your dancing shoes and drop your inhibitions as you learn some new moves. Feel free to come with a partner or on your own.  Lessons will be provided!  Sponsored by the MSU Swing Dance Club.

Compete in your first Intramural Sports competition to try and win an intramural champion t-shirt.  Attempt accurate tries at punting, passing, and kicking a football as far as you possibly can.  Total distance of your best tries will provide your final score.  Top male and female competitors will win champion t-shirts.
