Thursday, August 21       Residence Hall Move In Day!!!  

7:30am-11:00pm              Open Rec in Otto Recreation Center
Enjoy working out in your rec center where you can play basketball, volleyball, swim, lift weights, walk, jog, use the fitness machines equipped with personal computers, and lots more!

COME SEE THE PLACE TO BE! Experience all the bowling and billiards you can handle! Bowling - $2/Game, $1/Shoes and Billiards - $4/Hour. 

4:00pm – 6:00pm              New Student/Family BBQ, Myers Field House  
                  Join us in the field house for a traditional barbecue dinner anytime between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Enjoy great food as you begin your journey at Minnesota State Mankato!  This is the first meal for residence hall students, so all you need is your MavCARD!  Tickets will also be available at the door for $9.00. Children five and under are free. 
                 
4:00pm – 11:00pm    Indoor Climbing Wall in the SE corner of Myers Field House
Join us at our indoor climbing facility and spend the evening reaching new heights!  All you need is your MavCARD and we will provide all of the equipment for you to climb!  Staff will be there to provide instruction for climbers new to the sport. Please wear comfortable clothing. Sponsored by the Adventure Education Program.

Wondering what fraternities and sororities are really all about?  Come find out more during this no-pressure, no-obligation session.  You’ll have the opportunity to meet some of the Greek Community’s outstanding leaders and to ask questions about our 13 fraternities and sororities. Meet your neighbors!  Start time fluctuates from 7:00pm-8:15pm.  See your CA and floor signs for time and location.

9:00pm –12:00am            Club Maverick featuring Scratch and Bang CSU Ballroom
Club Maverick is the hippest club scene you have ever seen. A dueling DJ and drummer will make the walls melt. A once in a lifetime experience!  Lights, drinks, and crazy dancing. Meet someone new.  Free glow necklaces to the first 200 students.  

9:00pm                                    Capture the Flag on the lawn by the Bell Tower (meet in Myers Field House at 9pm)
Grab your floormates for a fun night of crawling, running, sneaking & strategy!  We’ll meet in Myers Field House and separate into teams before heading out to the grassy area by the Bell Tower.  Traditional Capture the Flag rules will be in effect, with each team hiding a flag and having a jail.  Prepare for the night by wearing dark clothes and tennis shoes.  You may bring a flashlight if you wish.  Sponsored by Campus Recreation.

Why leadership? And why a rock star? This session will focus on the reason why you should lead us, why we need you to lead us. The world is in search of rock stars. Are you up to the challenge?

                                                      These 25 minute tours run consistently during the time period.  Library tours are also offered at 12 (noon) on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, August 26 – 28.

You choose where to visit, and you choose which prizes you want to win!  Earn prize drawing tickets by visiting different campus offices.  There is $1000 worth of great prizes, including a tablet, movies, games, and more!  Bring your tickets to the prize station in the CSU (lower level in front of the fire place) by 3:15pm for the prize drawing.  You will find goodies, more prizes and give-aways at each stop.  Pick-up your Choose-A-Palooza guide at the campus Hub, or front desk of your on-campus residence community.   The Prize Drawing will begin at 3:15pm, don’t miss a chance to win these prizes including a tablet!                                                       The first 300 new students to stop by the Centennial Student Union Office in CSU 220 during Choose-a-Palooza receive a balsa wood airplane. Assemble your plane and bring it to Choose-a-Palooza giveaway program at 3 p.m. in the Hearth Lounge. Immediately following Choose-a-Palooza, put your aerodynamic skills to the test during a group launching from the Hearth Lounge overlook toward a small target on the Hearth Lounge floor. Closest three airplanes to the target will win. Top prize will be a GoPro camera. Bring your craft and launch it to win! Please join CRU to help relieve world hunger. We will be packing food to send to areas around the world that are suffering from food shortages. We look forward to bonding as a community while working together on this humanitarian effort. This event is open to anyone! We would like to promote togetherness between the various clubs and organizations on campus, so please bring a friend and come help relieve world hunger!

The I Heart Female Orgasm Lecture is the sex ed teacher you always wanted.  It combines sex education with a hearty dose of laughter.  This program will bring a playful, honest approach to this topic.  “Best sex talk ever!” Megan B Junior, MSU. With humor and education, the team of speakers illuminate the subject of sexuality, healthy relationships, and consent.  Are you coming?

Let your imagination soar as you ponder the mysteries of the universe.  Check out our state-of-the-art telescopes and get a close up look at our galaxy and beyond.  Meet at the flag in front of the Centennial Student Union on the south side to be shuttled to the observatory.  Shuttle will run continuously until 10pm.  Sponsored by the Astronomy department and Campus Recreation.

Splash on over to the pool for a swim, participate or watch the cannon ball contest, relays, and other fun games for prizes!  Lounge around with colorful pool toys, listen to music, enjoy snacks and tropical drinks, and hang out with your friends.  Sponsored by Campus Recreation and Student Health Services.

Take the challenge of the outdoor climbing pinnacle. Come on out-all you need is your MavCARD and we will provide all of the equipment for you to climb!  Staff will be there to provide instruction for climbers new to the sport. Please wear comfortable clothing.  You can reach the climbing tower by a short walk on the road south behind the tennis courts (past the intramural fields).  Sponsored by the Adventure Education Program.

Group fitness classes start the first day of school, but get a preview and start your college fitness future today!   A HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) class involves cycles of high intensity activities and low to moderate intensity recovery.  All levels welcome and no need to register – just show up in workout clothes!
