Winter Break Rock Wall Hours are Posted!

Hours for the 2012-2013 Winter Break are posted with extended hours for MNSU Students (free with MavCARD) Faculty/Staff, Alumni and the Mankato Community!  Come experience the MNSU Indoor Climbing Wall over winter break with the Adventure Education Program and Campus Recreation.  Full equipment to help you scale the wall is included in your night of climbing!  We are open most break weeknights, plus a few Friday afternoons across break for families that are out of school!

Holiday Cooking Class

  • The MSU Wellness Committee Interns will be leading a healthy substitution cooking class to help prepare you for your up-coming Holiday celebrations. Recipes will be transformed to make them healthier and the interns will be offering free samples along with recipes and other healthy ingredient substitution ideas in an interactive presentation.

  • Presentation on holiday cooking including healthy substitution options and free samples of great healthy holiday recipes.

aromatherapy 101

  • Great stress relief strategies before the holidays and nice gift ideas for friends or family!

Six Week Shape Up Challenge

Get moving and win incentives! The MSU Wellness Committee Interns will be leading you through low impact, light intensity exercise routines for six weeks. All levels of ability are welcome! There will be incentives including yoga mats, work out DVDs, food, and more for participating.

  • November 7, 14, 21, 28 & December 5, 12
  • 5:00-5:45pm
  • 30-minute exercise sessions with a cool down and stretching

Poker Walk

  • Come be active and join the MSU Wellness Committee for an exhilarating walk around campus! Begin your walk at Barnes and Noble Bookstore and continue through campus making designated stops to fill your poker hand! Top 3 hands will win a prize courtesy of the MSU Wellness Committee!

Dentist Event

  • Dr. Christina Simonette will be onsite to talk about Dental Implants and answer all of your dental related questions. You will also receive a toothbrush packet!

Beginners Fitness Class

  • What: Get moving! The MSU Wellness Committee Interns will be leading you through a low impact, light exercise routine that focuses on beginners moves while still getting your heart rate up. All levels of ability are welcome! Introductory level class that may help prepare you for the 6-week Shape Up Challenge coming in November!
  • When: Wednesday Sept. 26th @ 5pm
  • Where: Highland North (HN) 225
  • 30-minute exercise session with a cool down

Symmetry Nutrition Demo

  • What: The owners of Symmetry Nutrition will be coming in to talk about their health and wellness products and are offering FREE LUNCH. Everyone in attendance will get a deliciously nutritious meal replacement shake.

  • Stefanie Reed, a massage therapist, will be offering 15-minute massages.

  • COST: $15 for a 15 minute massage

Nutritional Assessments (PDF)

  • Who: Sarah Schellinger, senior dietetic student and MSU Wellness Committee Intern
  • What: Free one-on-one nutritional assessments, approx. 20 minutes
  • When: A time convenient for you! Schedule an appointment with Sarah at sarah.schellinger@mnsu.edu anytime this semester.
  • Why: To assess your typical daily diet and see what aspects of it could be improved. We will look at daily caloric and nutrient needs and total energy expenditure to aid in weight management.
