Group Exercise, the Benefits and the Atmosphere Presentation

  • Presenter: YMCA’s Samantha Mallo
  • Come and learn about the benefits of exercising with a group!
  • When: Friday, January 27, 2012 @ Noon
  • Where: CSU 202 Cooper Room

Bizically Fit 2012 Health Challenge sponsored by Alliance Health

Let’s kick off 2012 with some healthy competition!

Together, teams of coworkers, friends and family will earn points for healthy behaviors like dropping extra pounds, physical activity and healthy eating choices.

How It Works:

  • Individuals sign up and then create or join a team
  • Team members individually track their exercise minutes, pedometer steps, and/or weight loss at 2012HealthChallenge.com each week
  • Competitors follow the online Leaderboard for rankings and bragging rights
  • Virtual trophies are awarded to top scoring teams

You’ll gain the support you need to succeed!

  • Registration Starts: January 23rd
  • Challenge begins: February 13th
  • Challenge ends: May 4th

Lead the Pack introduces the Shape Up Challenge!! 

  • Please join Kirsten, an Exercise Physiology graduate student, Heather a Family Consumer Science-Food & Nutrition major, and Nicole a Health Science major, as they guide you through six weeks of health and wellness education and physical activity along with goal setting and encouragement. 
  • Each week there will be an exercise session to participate in. 
  • Attendance Prizes will be given out at each event!!  Questions are encouraged!
  • This program is FREE and lasts six weeks.  
  • Beginners are welcome!  Find a workout buddy to help keep you motivated but not necessary. 
  • Exercises will be altered to each individual’s ability.
  • Optional weigh-in and assessment at beginning, mid-point, and end.
  • Program Dates/Times: The program begins Wednesday, January 18th and ends February 22, 2012.
  • Come dressed for activity and meet in room PH 114.
  • Exercise sessions will be every Wednesday from 4:45pm to 5:30pm. **
  • We will help you track your exercise and stay on track along with bonus incentives for attending Yoga and Zumba classes!

Yoga

  • Mondays & Wednesdays at 12 Noon for 50 minutes of reinvigorating yoga.
  • Starts January 9th throughout Spring Semester in PH 102.  
  • Focus will be on building strength, balance and an awareness of how this ancient practice can enhance your life. 
  • $3 a class or a $25 punch card is available for 10 sessions.
  • Lisa is a registered yoga instructor for four years and also teaches at the YMCA.

Zumba

  • Classes Start: Tuesday, January 9, 2012
  • Class On: Monday and Thursdays in HN225
  • 5-6pm
  • Cost for 1 class per week for 6 weeks: $3
  • Cost for 2 classes per week for 6 weeks: $6

Poker Walk - February 14, 2012

  • Time to get up and get moving on your lunch break! Come be active and join the MSU Wellness Committee for an exhilarating walk around campus! Begin your walk at Barnes and Noble Bookstore and continue through campus making designated stops to fill your poker hand! Top 3 hands will win a prize courtesy of the MSU Wellness Committee!

Minnesota State Mankato Night at Mount Kato (Cancelled)

  • Friday, February 17, 2012
  • 20461 Hwy 66, Mankato
  • Skiing and Snowboarding runs from 4:00 - 10:00 PM
  • Tubing runs from 5:00 - 9:00 PM
  • All registrants check in at the MSU table between 4:00 - 6:00 PM
  • Join us for some winter fun on the slopes of Mount Kato! Skiing, snowboarding, tubing - Mount Kato has it all. If you need ski or snowboard lesson, they have that too!
    • Lift Ticket: $17
    • Ski/Snowboard Rental: $16
    • Helmet Rental: $4
    • Ski/Snowboard Lessons (at 4:30 and 6:00 PM): $3
    • Tubing: 2 hours for $14 or 3 hours for $16
