Transgender advocate to speak Feb. 22 at United Church of Christ

Award-winning educator and activist Debra Davis will speak at United Church of Christ, 150 Stadium Court, Thursday, Feb. 22, in a 7 p.m. event sponsored by the LGBT Center, the Women’s Center and CADA, Inc.

 

Davis is executive director of the Gender Education Center, a Minnesota nonprofit organization of differently gendered people dedicated to support, advocacy and education. A transgender high school librarian, she is one of the first secondary educators in the nation to successfully come out and transition in her high school. She retired four years ago after 32 years of teaching.
