Jan. 19: Good Thunder Reading Series to Host Matt Goldman, Talitha Greaver

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Good Thunder Reading Series will host author Matt Goldman on Thursday, Jan. 19 in the series’ third event of the 2022-2023 academic year. In addition, Minnesota State Mankato graduate student Talitha Greaver, who received the University’s Robert C. Wright Minnesota Writer’s Scholarship, will read from her work Thursday evening.

All the events are free and open to the public.

Jan. 19 schedule:

  • 10-11 a.m. – Workshop at Hubbard Building, 424 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato
  • 3-4 p.m. – “Talk on Craft,” Centennial Student Union, Rooms 253/4/5.
  • 7:30-8:30 p.m. – Matt Goldman and Talitha Greaver will read from their work; Centennial Student Union, Rooms 253/4/5. Books will be available for purchase.

The following information about the writers were provided by the Good Thunder Reading Series:

Matt Goldman is a New York Times bestselling author and Emmy Award-winning television writer. He has been nominated for the Shamus Award and Nero Award. Amazon selected his most recent book, “Carolina Moonset,” as one of the best books of 2022. Goldman’s television writing credits include Seinfeld; Ellen; The New Adventures of Old Christine; and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.

Talitha Greaver is a fiction MFA candidate at Minnesota State Mankato, where she teaches foundations of writing rhetoric and creative writing. Her bachelor’s degrees, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, are in English and English education. She writes hopeful, fabulist stories and dabbles in poetry and embroidery.

Founded in 1981, the Good Thunder Reading Series brings nationally and internationally acclaimed writers from diverse backgrounds and literary traditions to Mankato, Minnesota, with the goal of promoting access to great literature, inspiring creativity and connections in our communities, and fostering lively conversations about how writers work and why writing matters.

The Good Thunder Reading Series is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

The 2022-23 Good Thunder Reading Series also receives support from Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of English, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Women’s Center, the Nadine B.
