Welcome… I’m your LCC, Mikhaila!

I am so excited to meet you in the fall!  I will be a resource for you as you navigate through your first year of college here at Minnesota State University, Mankato! Being involved with the Exploring Helping Careers Learning Community will help you academically as well as socially, so utilize me and your peers as much as you can! 

Major: Psychology and Alcohol and Drug Studies

How/what made you decide this major?  I have always wanted to focus on mental health. I discovered my Alcohol and Drug Studies major through an education class (Drug Education) my first year at MNSU. Through that, I found an interest in studying addiction and how addiction and mental health impact each other!

Year in School: Senior

Hometown: La Crescent, MN  

Favorite Food: This is a hard decision, but something I will never turn down is a baguette with some butter.

Advice for LC Students: Get involved around campus! If something isn’t working out, you can always try something new. There are endless opportunities, you just have to find them :)

Smartest thing you ever did/best decision you ever made: Get involved around campus and step outside of my comfort zone. I have built many connections, developed relationships, found jobs, found organizations that I love, and so much more.

Favorite thing about MSU: The environment. I have many places around campus that I can go to for whatever I need – focus, quiet, comfort, etc.

Campus/LC Involvement: Secretary for Student Ambassadors, Learning Community Coordinator, SADE (Students for Alcohol and Drug Education).

Favorite thing to do in Mankato: Go to Fillin Station or Coffee Hag in the colder months or go hiking at Seven Mile Creek when it’s warm!

Favorite things to do outside of school/coursework: Read, hike, workout, and hangout with my friends.

Anything else we should know about you? I’m a twin! So if you think you see me and say hi and they look confused, it’s probably my sister :)
