Greetings everyone! It is indeed my honor to work as an International Student Retention Specialist for the Kearney International Center and an Instructor for the Intensive English Language Program. Prior to that, I worked as a Writing Consultant for the Writing Center for five years at Minnesota State University (MNSU), Mankato, where I tutored both international and domestic students. I have earned a master’s degree in English Education from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and another master’s degree in Teaching English to the Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from MNSU, Mankato. Before joining MNSU, Mankato, I taught ESL at the high school level and served as a high school principal in Nepal.

As a part of my doctoral dissertation, I conducted a research study on international students’ academic writing challenges in a university context. Based on my research findings and experiences of teaching and tutoring writing to second language learners from diverse social, cultural, and educational backgrounds, I have become very motivated to support international students and to help them overcome their academic writing challenges and English language barriers. I have developed a robust knowledge of resources, services, and networks on campus that are essential for international students to alleviate their academic writing challenges. So, please come and meet me if you need help identifying resources and services to improve your academic reading, writing, and research skills. As an international student from Nepal, I will be happy to share my first-hand experiences of my own academic success stories based on my master’s and doctoral studies at MNSU, Mankato.
