'64 Physical Education and Health/'67 Physical Education
Edmund Draheim (Ed) earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Health in 1964 and his Masters in Physical Education in 1967, both from Mankato State University. Ed taught and coached at the secondary level beginning in Backus, MN, Grand Meadow, MN, and then spent the last 30 years of his teaching career in Owatonna, MN. He was local education association president and negotiator and served on the board of directors for MEA. He was Big 9 Softball Coach of the Year and Minnesota Football Assistant Coach of the Year. Ed refereed high school and junior college basketball for 17 years and was hired to referee high school state basketball tournaments for ten years. Ed developed many physical education programs while at Owatonna High School. During his time at Mankato, Ed organized and participated on many intramural teams. Ed is married to Jane Slater Draheim ( Gustavus Adolphus, 1970; University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, 1992) who taught English in Red Wing and Faribault, Minnesota. Ed has two grown children and three grandchildren. He and Jane enjoy extensive traveling, golf, all sports, working for the MN Twins at Spring Training, time with family, and summers at their lake home on Pelican Lake near Brainerd.
