Paul J Hustoles Biography

Paul J. Hustoles is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He recently received the honor of the Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award, and has been Artistic Director of Highland Summer Theatre since his arrival in 1985.
Paul earned a B.F.A. from Wayne State University in Theatre Directing, an M.A. from the University of Michigan in Acting/Directing, and a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University in Fine Arts, with emphasis in Directing and Theatre Management.
A college instructor for over thirty-five years, Dr. Hustoles has directed over 200 plays and musicals and has produced over 500. He is a past Chair of Region V of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (including North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri).
He has served on the KCACTF National Committee, the National Selection Team and often directed the prestigious Irene Ryan Evening of Scenes at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
In 2011, Paul directed The Odyssey, selected from a pool of 1300 productions to be performed at the Kennedy Center for Festival 43. He served as the Head National Judge for the Irene Ryan Classical Acting Award for Festival 44. Dr. Hustoles was the Acting Vice President for University Advancement for MSU, and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Inter-Faculty Organization for the Faculty Association.
He has been heavily involved in Leadership Mankato Area and served on the Executive Committee and Board of the Greater Mankato Area United Way.
