Richard Robbins Biography
College of Arts and Humanities, Minnesota State University, Mankato
Richard Robbins was raised in Southern California and Montana. He studied English at San Diego State University, and attended the University of Montana for his Master of Fine Arts in creative writing. Richard was a writer-in-residence for the Montana Arts Council from 1979-81, as well as an instructor later at Minnesota State University, Moorhead, and Oregon State University.
He began teaching at MSU, Mankato, in 1984.
Richard has published five collections of poetry, over 400 individual poems in literary journals, and dozens of works of fiction and creative nonfiction during his career. He has read his work at venues such as the U.S. Naval Academy, Reed College, the University of California, and the National Arts Club.
Mr. Robbins has received many awards and fellowships, and currently directs the Creative Writing program and Good Thunder Reading Series at MSU, Mankato.
At the moment, he is working on two new books of poems.
