Study Communication in Cuba in Spring 2019!

Communication Studies is taking students on a study abroad opportunity to Cuba in spring semester 2017.

We encourage students to start planning now if you believe this opportunity is right for you. Please contact Prof. James Dimock or Dr. Daniel Cronn-Mills, or Dr. Kristi Treinen more information.

The purpose of studying in Cuba is to understand how broad economic structures influence communities’ organizational and communication strategies and to experience communication practices outside mainstream U.S. culture. While in Cuba, you will need to be present—physically and mentally—at sessions and participate in activities.

We coordinate our time in Cuba with Witness for Peace, an international non-profit organization. As noted on the organization's website: "Witness for Peace (WFP) is a politically independent, nationwide grassroots organization of people committed to nonviolence and led by faith and conscience. WFP’s mission is to support peace, justice and sustainable economies in the Americas by changing U.S. policies and corporate practices which contribute to poverty and oppression in Latin America and the Caribbean." Witness for Peace's is committed to nonviolence, political independence, and respect for the communities in which the organization is active.
