Thank you for your good wishes Joseph, although I have got to admit that I am not a professor, well, not yet anyway, when I was lad I wanted to be one but did not quite make it, it could be because of this cluttering problem I have! Hmmmmmmmm, incidence of cluttering? a good one, in all my years of research into cluttering having been diagnosed in the 80's, I have failed to find any hard and fast figures, although Judith is more qualified than I to comment on this. Cluttering I believe has a lower incidence to stuttering, I suppose that the fact remains, it is not a fully understood condition even today and many people may have the symptoms of a clutterer without their being aware of it. Also cluttering can co-exist along with other conditions, stuttering and ADD for example, I myself am a clutterer as you may be aware, and I know my symptoms, but other clutterers may not have the same symptoms I have as the term "cluttering" can become generalized, i.e. cluttered speech. When I was first diagnosed, I thought that I had only a speech problem, I now know that this is not the case, through research I have found that other people with a clutter share my other symptoms which I did not immediately relate to cluttering, for example: writing, reading, thought patterns, inability to say what I want to say, hesitation etc. Through the newly formed ICA we hope to raise more awareness, make the condition more understood and for the professionals to initiate a suitable training and teaching regime, leading to effective treatment. This year has been a starting point for the future as more and more people are learning about cluttering Can I say that for many years, I thought I was on my own, I was, but at last people are willing to share this problem with me, it was amazing to see so many people from around the World in one place this year at the conference in Bulgaria to discuss a condition that I had for many years which no one seemed to know about.
