Hi - Cluttering is typically not diagnosed until 7 or 8. However, this does not necessarily mean that the disorder had not existed prior to that age. The reason for this can be due to several factors: (a) SLPs are not familiar with cluttering; (b) full-blown cluttering may be illustrated better as the child's speech/language tasks become longer and more complex (e.g., having to weave a complex and exciting story); (c) some disfluent individuals have elements of both cluttering and stuttering. Yes, cluttering has been of greater interest to European logopedists...including clinicians from the Netherlands, Germany, Czech, England, Russia. Consider joining the ICA!
