I am a current graduate student who is enrolled in a Stuttering course this semester. I find this information informative and very relative to my studies. I am always enthusiastic to learn new information especially in the area of Down’s syndrome. Judith Eckardt observations, impressions, and ideas for treatment and consultation will be very useful in my profession as a future speech language pathologist. I also appreciate the fact that the presenter took advantage of an opportunity to investigate younger children with Down’s who stutter additionally bringing attention to treating this population and their families as we would treat “normal developing children” who begin to stutter. Encouraging our children who stutter to dismiss those secondary behaviors and overcome/minimize their delay is a big task however the reward is great for the child, the family, and the therapist. This reading has expanded my knowledge; as a result it can be applied in my course work and with future clients. I recommend this reading for all professionals who work with children and adults with disabilities.
