Stuttering and Down Syndrome

I was very interested in reading about the effects of stuttering on a person with Down Syndrome. It was surprising to me that the children seen with Down Sydrome who stuttered are aware of the feelings and anxieties that come along with stuttering. In one of the bullets listed, there was an explanation on how to let this population know that it is ok for some bumps in their speech. Isn't that much more diffifult to explain to them considering their cognitive level? What detailed approach would you take?
