Hello, Cognition levels with Downs children can vary and some function fairly high. They do understand words such as BUMPY and OK very well. You can communicate the message that "It is OK to have bumpy speech". They understand being BAD and sometimes, the way people treat them when they stutter, makes for a BAD feeling when they try to communicate. Thank you. Judith
