Ms. Eckardt, This article was very interesting to me in terms of Down’s children exhibiting “shame of stuttering”. I believe that it is vital to try to prevent shame of stuttering in any individual who stutters. In your practice, have you noticed if individuals with Down Syndrome more sensitive to listeners’ negative reactions to stuttering? Also, thanks for some good tips for clinical application. As a graduate student in Speech-Language Pathology, it is always helpful to have some tools to use during the learning process.
