Families play such an important role in therapy. How do you suggest involving families in the process to help diminish the “shame of stuttering” that often appears? I imagine the process is more involved considering these children and their families are coping with the many facets of Down Syndrome as well as the stuttering component. Is it more difficult to explain stuttering to children with Down Syndrome? What explanation has worked best for you? I enjoyed your article and learned many things about stuttering and Down Syndrome I never considered before. Thank you for your entry.
