Hi. I'm a NYU graduate student in Lee Caggiano's fluency disorders class. After reading your paper, I was wondering whether the therapy the down's children you saw received was dependent on the severity of their syndrome. Did their cognitive abilities impact their view about their stuttering, or was it their age that made them less "ashamed"? The 7 year old patient, it was stated, did not have any struggling behaviors and had eye contact, and was also higher functioning. The older kids showed avoidance behaviors and struggled, but it was not stated what their cognitive level was.
