Katelyn, Glad you found the paper helpful. Re your question: Simply reading from a prepared text would be enough to detect the extent of covert stuttering. I am bemused when I see research papers refer to % stuttered syllables during telephone conversations as their measure of stuttering severity. Obviously in this case the speakers use of word substitution and circumlocution are able to make speech "appear" fluent and thereby hide the extent of the stuttering behaviour.
