Mark, I recall that not too many years ago, at least in the U.S., sad was used for seasonal affective disorder. Are we now seeing it as an anxiety disorder designation as a part of yet another psychological fad that will come and go as has been the case with so many others? Concerning stuttering, I can tell you that for me personally anxiety was never my issue for overt stuttering. My issue was always frustration with not being able to say simple things like my name. I have had clients who obviously had anxiety issues with stuttering over the years but I've also had clients who displayed no anxiety about stuttering but who were frustrated with the problem. Perhaps we should be considering the potential problems created by piling yet more disorders on the plates of those who already have to deal with stuttering in the real world on a daily basis.
