Hello, my (PWS) daughter (3) is raised in Chinese and German. Since 6 months she developed stuttering symptoms, first more in Chinese, now after attending German kindergarden more in German, esp vowels at beginning of words. With no qualified and certified German or Chinese language SLP available in BEijing, we rely on my own experience in dealing with the issue, but what is worrying is the ignorance of the environment here. The Lidcombe program seems to be very effective, but I wonder if parents without clinician's guidance can perform it in a non english case. Also judging from my own childhood situation, where stuttering was there before primary school (therapized) and after age 12 (unsuccessfully therapized) I wonder how Lidcombe graduates "perform" in their teenage years âfter spending quite fluent primary school years. Thank you!
