It appears that Dr. shenker and I think alike. Julie, you wrote: I have been treating a 6 year old boy who is from India. His fluency has improved in English but he continues to have more trouble, stuttering in his first language, Tamil. - - - - - Julie, you reported that your information on Tamil was by parent report. I am glad that the parents are interested in learning to work with their son. Here is what I would hope to do, if he were on my caseload: I would invite a parent to join my sessions with him, to show them my strategies for working with him in English. When the parents are ready, I would allow them to try taking the lead in one or more activities, with guidance from me, as needed. Parents could be encouraged to use the same procedures in Tamil and in English, and they could be encouraged to report their son's progress in both languages. - BH
