Katie, you are making a big assumption when you suggest that learning two languages as a young child would be stressful. I don't think that we have an empirical basis to link bilingualism causally to stuttering. Hopefully the child learning two languages simultaneously is not bombarded by both at the same time. We recommend that parents input one language at a time with no code mixing on input so as not to confuse or bombard the child. Often each parent will speak a different language thereby providing a consistent model in each language spoken.
