I think that the topic of stuttering and bilingualism is extremely interesting because I plan on being a Bilingual SLP in the future. I was wondering if you have noticed a correlation between the language that the child stutters more in and cultural issues or standards. I have heard that children and adults who speak Spanish say that they stutter more in Spanish than in English and they believe that it is because culturally it is not acceptable to be a bad or delayed communicator and they feel pressured to be perfect and speak at a rapid pace. I was just wondering if you have known anyone to a study related to culture, bilingualism and stuttering?
