One of me teenage clients actually did what you mentioned and considered it his turning point in therapy. The speech of choice was from 'The King's Speech' and the increase in self confidence and pride with achieving a similar feat (which he recorded on audio tape) was amazing. Sometimes, our clients need little successes to build greater successes and choral reading or reading alone can really help (especially when they play it back on tape and hear themselves!). I also appreciate your reference to what Dr Conture mentioned that 'under the right conditions, fluency can be elicited'. This is important too as choral reading may be useful initially but not entirely functional and as clinicians, we must be careful not to sell this 'home base' fluency as something that is expected of the client all the time in the clinic. Thanks again! Voon.
