Interesting response, Pam. Thanks for reading my "clinical nugget" and offering another viewpoint. I totally accept that for you and others I know, the primary goal is acceptance. The nugget is not one I would suggest for you;-) It is very interesting though, how there are many who stutter who can read text without any stuttering. There are others who have great difficulty with reading text (more difficulty than when they are speaking). I suspect those may be folks who have developed avoidance strategies where they don't use sounds or words they think they will stutter on. But in reading, the word is right there in front of them and can't be avoided.
