Application of choral reading in therapy as described in this "clinical nugget" is simply a way to demonstrate to the client that his speech mechanism is capable of forward moving speech without a lot of dysfluencies. It is not a "therapy method" per se. It is more of an initial stepping stone, if it is used in therapy. The client and the clinician would develop a hierarchy of activities to move, in small steps, the experience of fluency into real-life speaking situations. It isn't meant to suggest that the client speak in a "rhythmic quality" of speech. You might be interested in reading (and listening to) a poem written by someone many years ago that talks about his attempts to find a "cure" - including speaking with a rhythmic quality.
