Yes, therapy incorporating pauses are very useful. Pausing is a bit more "concrete" than attempting to slow the overall rate of speech. Interestingly, the slow-normal rate of speech used in fluency shaping with PWS perhaps is more easily "tolerated" than by PWC. Pausing can be made more concrete, as other clinicians have pointed out as well, by using the punctuation marks of a reading passage to signify the need to pause...or through reading poetry or skits.
