Because clients who clutter may ramble on and on about a particular topic, having structure helps them to stay focused on the goal of the activity. I also want to remind you that in the beginning of changing any behavior, you have to have a certain amount of drill to establish new patterns. If the client doesn't get sufficient practice with a strategy, that strategy won't work in the real world. certainly, as the client becomes more proficient with speech modification, decreasing structure is important.
