Emily, thanks for the question. I would have the child touch the word instead of dots. Reading adds a whole different element (in my opinion) to speech fluency and language anyway. When reading, rate tends to be naturally reduced. If the child does struggle with rapid reading, I have them touch the word. This will also help with organization. Hope this helps!
