Kristen; I am not certain if I understand your question, but will do my best... pausing is a skill we try to help children who clutter acquire becasue it enhances a NATURAL phenomenon in the flow of speech (which many PWC do not utilize). Carryover of this skill into spontaneous speech takes lots of time and lots of practice along a hierachy of difficulty and variance of speaking situations. I hope this answers your question.
