Nechama, I have not worked with other children who have a diagnosis of autism and who also present with cluttered speech prior to working with Claudia, so I cannot speak directly to your question. I suspect that some aspects of the plan we devised for her might work well with other children who show both sets of symptoms, but it is likely that the treatment would need to be tailored to fit each child. What works well for one person may not quite fit another. For example, Claudia seemed to catch on quite quickly to the term "clear speech", when she didn't seem to catch on to "turtle talk". It may just have been a matter of timing (that "clear speech" made sense to her), or it was a better way to talk about communicating with greater intelligibility--we'll never know. But, I love trying to figure out what type of information helps a particular client best--an interesting puzzle. Best wishes, Lynne
