Hi Deidre, ------- Your observation of "...there is so much more to life than worrying about what others think of the way they speak..." is a perfect bulls eye! Not only the way we speak, but the size of our ears or the color of our hair (or lack thereof in my case, ha, ha, ha!), or anything else we want to blow up all out of proportion. Welcome to the human race...! <smile> ------- Toastmasters... ah yes... one of my true passions in life. Toastmasters is a public speaking organization of nearly 200,000 people from all over the world. It's got nothing to do with stuttering, but everything to do with communication and confidence. People everywhere can - and really SHOULD - join Toastmasters. Outside of the National Stuttering Association, it's the finest organization in the entire world. From the Toastmasters International web site at http://www.toastmasters.org "The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth." That's not just a slogan, that's reality. And on top of everything else, it's FUN! Check it out! <smile> ------- Good luck, Deidra! I hope you've enjoyed the conference. ------- Russ, RussHicks@mail.com, Dallas, Texas, 972-881-1451 home, 972-489-6169 cell, My home page: http://www.RussHicks.com NSA home page: http://www.WeStutter.org
