Iam an undergraduate student in the Communication Science and Disorders department of Western Washington University. I am currently in a fluency class and stuttering has been introduced in many of our other general classes. I found it interesting how you said that stuttering is not brought on by nervousness, but that stuttering causes nervousness to talk to people. I had never looked at it from this perspective. From what I have been taught, I always thought that the uncomfortable situation would cause a person to become nervous and bring on the stuttering. I think that your point is good, that a person may stutter because they have done so in the past and become nervous about it. I also think that your idea of "fuhgeddaboutit" is great. I am a firm believer that a positive attitude can help in pretty much any situation.
