Yes, I've been exposed to school therapists and private practice therapists; although I've never tried an "intensive" program. Unfortunately, none of the stuttering therapy I've experienced has been of any lasting benefit. Two points: Although I can say almost any word 95 out of 100 times, therapists want to "teach" me to say the word. I know that I can - just not when I want/need to. Second, almost all stuttering therapy is designed to focus my concentration on speaking without stuttering - that's counter-intuitive! Focusing on my speech makes my stuttering worse, forgetting abut my speech makes it more fluent! It's somewhat like the old joke about the centipede...As long as it walks without thinking about it, it moves gracefully; once it starts concentrating on what leg does what in what sequence, it falls on its face. Teaching me to fall on my face was not what I needed.
