Dear Alison, the first speech language therapist in China, Mr. Zhang Jinhui, learned something like fluency shaping speech program in Japan in 1940s, then he came back to Shanghai and opened the first clinic to treat stuttering. One of his graduate, Mr. Qian Houxin, began practicing speech treatment in 1950s, and became the most famous speech therapist. His courses and text, have been copied and adapted by many other therapists. Other therapists learned the technique from USSR or by their own experience and consideration. All the best, Albert
