Thanks for your post. I’ve found that many people with disabilities feel more comfortable in the workplace if they can be open and honest about their situations/conditions. And with stuttering, it’s sometimes helpful if it’s out in the open because it can help avoid misunderstandings about one’s speech. I have found myself disclosing a lot more lately – both in professional and in social situations – even when it’s not necessary. It gives me the opportunity to educate people about stuttering, and when they say that they have a friend or family member who stutters, I tell them about the great resources out there, including the National Stuttering Association, which has become an important part of my life.
