Many times it is a real eye opener when parents are involved in activities that force them to monitor their own behavior! I have found that parents are often willing to do anything to help their child. Willingness is good - it's a starting point. But just like a child, parents have to first recognize their own behaviors and the contributions those behaviors make towards influencing the communication environment. And then there are parents who are unwilling to see their role and so these activities might not be successful initially. And, frankly, we have to take baby steps to help these folks what is and isn't occurring. Thanks for writing, Erin
