I found your Dear Abby letter writing activity to be a wonderful way of engaging students in a discussion about stuttering. This is a brilliant way of creating a positive atmosphere for students to convey concerns, questions, etc. I really enjoyed your ideas! In keeping with the theme of advice, I would like to ask if I could have some of yours. Currently, I am a first year graduate student in speech/language pathology. Last year, as I was finishing my bachelor's degree, I came across a very touchy situation. A good friend of mine, and fellow SLP major, was denied admittance to the graduate program at our university because he is a stutterer. After appealing the department's decision, he was denied a second time. Luckily, he had applied to many schools and was admitted to (and is very happy at) another university. So, my question to you is: should my friend pursue any type of action against our Alma Mater or just let it go? Thank you!
