You raise a very good point, Abbie. It’s important that the client is ready for such an activity. Telling someone who’s afraid of placing calls that he’s going to call someone he admires would be like tossing a non-swimmer into the deep end of the pool. The tricky part is when they’re ready & don’t know it. Then it looks like I’m throwing them in over their heads. But the truth is that I’ve already spoken to the new listener. I know the reactions will be appropriate ones. Later, when the clients have confidence that they can place calls, I might have them try a more difficult one. But then they’re ready to deal with any negative reactions they might get. Dale
