This article reminds me that in the past I have used techniques similar to journal writing with a student who was unwilling to discuss his stuttering. I used it in the attempt to get him to communicate without the stress of speaking. I have also used self rating scales with students. I have obtained much valuable information through both methods and need to try them again. Thanks for the article and the information it provided.
