Mary, Thanks for your comments. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. I have not used this journal in the regular classroom. However, I know that many teachers at all grade levels use journals consistently. My daughter started in second grade. She is a stutterer who used the original version of our journal as well. I have heard of teachers using journals for every subject, including Math (new standardized tests in Massachusetts emphasize critical thinking in every subject - journals are perfect practice for open-ended responses and essay writing). Speech should not be far behind! I am interested in any ideas you may have about trying this. Thanks, Jackie
