Natalie, I'm SOOO happy to hear that you are interested in becoming a school-based SLP. We need good people to work in the schools!I looked forward to going to work at my schools everyday. The answer to your question re: how to get teachers involved when you are the "new kid on the block" is complex. It takes time to develop relationships and mutual trust and respect. I usually did a brief presentation at a faculty meeting to educate the teachers about stuttering in general and about my program. Just being available to answer questions and visiting their classrooms make a difference in shaping their attitudes. Good luck!
